This was due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the global surge of the Omicron variant. Initially, leaders from Central Asian countries were being considered, but the plan was cancelled as a precaution.
✳️ Note: This marked the second consecutive year (2021 & 2022) when no foreign dignitary attended the Republic Day celebrations due to the pandemic.
